Detectors: ADAM Dosimeter

The in vivo dosimetry during radiotherapy treatments represents an important tool for the quality assurance, since it allows to verify ‘online’ the accuracy of the dose provided to the patient, thus allowing to correct possible faults due to malfunctioning of the equipment and/or human errors.

Probe head of dosimeter

An ideal dosimetry system should satisfy the following characteristics:

•  Reduced dimensions
•  Marginal Beam perturbation
•  Linear response
•  Very high reproducibility
•  No angular dependency, no dependency from dose rate, beam energy    and  temperature
•  Easy and fast online reading
•  Sterilization

Test of Dosimeter

Dosimeters available on the market are not able to fully satisfy all these requirements.

The ADAM team of experts in sensor technology and electronics has developed and patented an innovative dosimeter that is able to satisfy all these requirements needed by radiotherapists.

Several evaluation tests (in progress in different Hospitals) are demonstrating the reliability and the functionality of the new dosimeter in real operating theatre situations.
